Savonoi hand made soaps -Review-

The Savonoi team was gracious enough to send me a couple of soaps to try. Savonoi are handmade soaps with all natural ingredients. It is also cruelty-free and locally made from high quality locally sourced ingredients.

I am a big fan of handmade and all natural soaps. At least I know that there aren't any harmful ingredients that come with it.  I was ecstatic when I received the soaps and couldn't wait to try them.

I received the soaps in this vintage looking round box which was absolutely adorbs.

The soaps also came with 3 pieces of paper stating the names of the soaps, instructions how to use it and what are the benefits of the soaps.

I have suggested though that next time,  maybe they could engrave/stamp/carved the names on the actual soaps or put a sticker of some sort because I really got confused on which is which. Hence, in the below photos I made a mistake in labeling. lol

For 3 weeks, these soaps are the only products that I have used so I can feel and see if it does make any difference at all on my skin. The soaps are well made and they all smelt good. I was also surprised that the soaps did not create any greasy residue and it was easy to wash off.

After applying the soap on the body, I waited for 5 minutes as per instruction and then use lukewarm water for rinsing.

Was there any improvement on my skin? Yes. I wouldn't say it has been a massive one as it's only been 3 weeks, but my skin is definitely softer and smoother.

I have also noticed that my face is a tad firmer from using the 5 in 1 soap daily and it has helped in some zits that will occasionally appear on my face & chest and it has also slightly minimized my pores. The 5 in 1 soap did create a tad tingling sensation on my skin (no redness) but it was tolerable.

The Moroccan Argan soap was really moisturizing. This is a big plus for me as I have an extremely dry skin.

I love the moringa soap too as it has small scrub like granules when you use and scrubs off the dead skin ;-)

I will definitely continue using these soaps and will try the other ones.

If you want to get your hands on these soaps, follow Savonoi on FB @savonoi1283 and Instagram @savonoi1283

Kylie Burgundy Palette & Holiday Edition 2016 Palette

I have been wanting to get these shadows for quite a while now and finally I have them. I am really impressed about the colour pay off of these shadows and how little to none fall out there is. The packaging is bad ass (Like Kylie) but however, they are small. They did look big in pictures so I was really surprised when I received them. Nonetheless, they still rock!

These palettes are now definitely my fave and to be honest with you, you can carry these two palettes when you travel and you won’t be needing anything anymore (we know that statement won’t last though ;-)

Below are the swatches by fingers that I made from these palettes. Compared to Violet Voss holy grail, these are more pigmented. I still love Violet Voss holy grail as they have the colours I want that are not in these Kylie Palettes. I used my fingers to make the colour pop more. By the way, these shadows are really blendable and easy to work with. I am not sure why some people hate this palette, but to each his own :)

Check out the swatches below and I hope you will follow me on my social media where you can check out more make up and beauty product reviews.

Make Up Brush Cleaning

Cleaning your make-up brushes is so imperative. It does accumulate dust and bacteria and you definitely do not want that on your face. Every 2 weeks I do some deep cleaning with my brushes by using sanitizer mixed with Pantene shampoo and rinse it with water (preferably luke warm water).

I use the 2in1 Pantene (shampoo and conditioner) & it does really clean the bristles and make the brushes soft and smell good. Sanitizer helps clear out the bacteria, so you're sure your brushes are safe to use again.

Make sure to rinse your brushes thoroughly and check that there's no traces of product when you wipe it with a white cloth. Often times, we have this favourite brush to use with our foundation or blush. After using it, wipe it with wet wipes sprayed with alcohol so its safe to use the next day. In this way, your face is still free from bacteria and dust.

You can do this deep cleaning every week or every 10 days. But it is totally up to you ;-)

Acne Solution

Cut a few lemons and squeeze out the juice. Apply the juice with a cotton ball directly onto the acne scars on the face. Allow it to remain for some time and then wash with plain water. This tends to have a bleaching effect on dark scars. However, it is important that you avoid going out in bright sunlight when you have applied the lemon juice because it can cause darkening of skin. You can also combine lemon juice with other ingredients for scar reducing effect. Mix one tablespoon each of lemon juice, honey & almond oil with 2tbsp of milk. Apply this mixture on your scars once a day for about one week to see improvement.

IllustradoSquadGoals @ Fume Pier 7-Dubai Marina

The first Instameet that was organized by Illustrado at Fume Pier 7 turned out to be a fantastic night.

Dubai based Filipino social media rock stars (Instagram and Blog) all gathered up for this event which was a success. I think we could all agree that this should happen again ;-) I am truly grateful to be a part of this event.

Food was superb, ambiance was good and great conversation with cool and open minded people was just cherry on top.

All pictures were taken by me, except the other group photos (credits to the owner).

Violet Voss Holy Grail Palette (swatch and review)

My obsession for eyeshadow palettes is coming back slowly :D

I have seen this palette all over IG and I just couldn't help but admire it. So finally, I got my hands on this most talked about palette, and it did not disappoint. I love the colours on this palette because you can create so many looks :D

Violet voss contains 20 colors, mattes, metals, satin and it is cruelty free :D Its also infused with jojoba oil and its vegan ;-)

Although this palette could have been in a much better packaging because to be honest, this isn't portable and it can easily break (take cue from the naked palette packaging of urban decay please).

Below are the photos of each colour.

I had to swatch some of the shadows with a wet brush so colour will pop more and you can appreciate it. Each colour is easy to apply and it is blendable. Be careful with a little fall out with some of the shadows though.

Use fix + or wet your makeup brush to make the colour pop even more.

Wedding Make-Up Look

On Friday December 2, a dear friend of mine got married at Kempinski The Palm. It was an honor to be a part of a wonderful ceremony and congratulations again to the both husband and wife.

On this post, I just want to share the make up look that I did, the make up I used, the tools for it and a little bit of explanation how I applied the products.

Enjoy ;-)

Before primer, make sure your face is well prepped (cleansed, toned, moisturized and washed) It is imperative to have a face primer before putting on your concealer and foundation. Primer will increase the longevity of your make up and you can avoid having a cakey face.

Porefessional by Benefit Cosmetics will help you appear pore-less and will make the application of make up smoothly. You can either use this or the Nivea and that is totally up to you, but this is the method I went for. I apply this with my fingers btw.

There has been a lot of discussion about whether to put the concealer or foundation first. Personally in my opinion, do what works for you and see how it turns out. But I have always out on concealer first and then the foundation and set it with powder. Nars liquid sheer glow foundation in Fiji and Radiant creamy concealer in Honey.

Stila cream contour palette that I used to define my jaw line and temples. I used the Realtechniques sculpting brush (pink metallic colour) to blend it and a small side angle brush from bh cosmetics to apply the product. I forgot to do my nose line tho lol

Kat Von D lock it foundation powder in light 46 to set it all in. I love this powder foundation as it controls excess oil on your face and it does keep you matte for quite awhile. Also, this alone is good enough to be your light weight powder foundation when you're in a rush.

First time I have used this BrowVo conditioning primer for the eyebrows from Benefit Cosmetics. This is perfect for those who have natural good shaped brows as its a clear gel like just to groom your brows, This is formulated with keratin and soy protein to make the eyebrows look thick, healthier and fuller.

Nyx Brow Gel in Chocolate for a little bit grooming and colour for the brows. I dont really fill in my brows that much as it makes my face look  really mature and I have natural well groomed brows to start with ;-)

Urban Decay
Primer Potion has been my go to for a long time when it comes to priming  my eye lids and make my eye shadow last longer.

As my transition colour I started off with the colour Golden Ochre from ABH Modern Renaissance Palette and used a blending brush and just do a swiping motion back and forth on my crease.

Next one,I used the brush that came with the palette and put on Buon Fresco on top of the Golden Ochre and did a swiping motion back on forth as well. Followed with a 217 Brush from MAC and applied love letter on the inner crease and made sure to blend it well with the other two colours.

I have used my Violet Voss Holy Grail palette and added On Fleek colour in the middle by using Mac 213 brush and slowly apply and pack it in  to create the pop of colour in the middle. Next up i used Sigma E30 Pencil brush and applied ploof on my tear ducts to create that hint of glow.

On my lower lash line, I applied Cyprus Umber with another pencil brush and over it applied love letter with another pencil brush.

For my eyeliner I used MUFE Aqua XL in Diamond Brown

Before applying my mascara, I make sure that I curl them first. I applied one coat and leave it for 5 minutes curl again and apply a second coat and followed with...

Huda Bueaty Samantha lashed #7 which I absolutely love because it gave me the right amount of eyelash volume and look and it was so easy to apply. I need to get more. I used a black lash glue so when it dries I can apply a liquid liner on top.

For my lips, I prepped it with lip scrub and lip balm and applied this Too Faced  Lip Injection to make my lips look fuller ;-)

After about 5 minutes, I went ahead with this gorgeous lip colour by Huda Beauty in Muse. Pigmented, non drying and could last for a while. It has the similar formula of Kylie Lipkits. Great packaging too ;-)

I have combined two blushes because you can :p
Pink tea from Mac and Coralista blush from Benefit Cosmetics

After the blush, I have applied this gorgeous shimmering highlighter from Becca Cosmetics collab with Jaclyn Hill

Finally, set my face with Gerard Cosmetic SLAY setting spray and its done.

Sorry for the long post, but I really wanted to list all the products I used with this look. I know for some of you, this is exhausting and a lot of products, but keep in mind that Most of the stuff here is essential to create a FAB look ;-)
